Marie Hughes Counseling

What does Ms. Perko do?

The counselor provides Marie Hughes students in all grades with bi-weekly lessons addressing the following 3 standards:


Academics (being your best student), and

Personal/Social (includes bullying, friendship and how to get along with others and self).


Counseling Groups

The counselor coordinates bi-weekly counseling groups. Permission from parent/guardian is required.

"Saying Goodbye"- Grief Group

"Family Issues"- Divorce Group

"Too Much of Anything is No Good"- Alcohol Group

"Stressful Times"- Family members in jail/prison Group


attendance.jpgThe counselor will be monitoring excessive absences and tardies. An informative letter will be sent home with students identified as having excessive absences and tardies.

Visit the counselor before school (8:15-8:55am) in Room 304 for questions or other information.

 APS has partnered with Goodwill Indrustries to assist families in need of clothing for their children.

Each year at Thanksgiving and Christmas Marie Hughes' community comes together to provide food baskets for families in need.

The Giving Snowman is an annual giving and receiving community support for needy families during the holidays. You will find him beginning in November on the wall by the front office for families to give or receive.

Basic school supplies are donated and available to Marie Hughes students who are in need.
